The story of a highly talented artist, singer, songwriter, and guitarist, spreading love through her sweet lyrics and mesmerizing voice. Stephanie Phillips, a folk-pop artist and guitarist from West Chester, Pennsylvania, released her full-length album “Carousel of Hope” in December. Her timeless music and unparalleled musical intellect once again captivated hearts. Her voice is full of hope and delicate lyricism that turns heads around at the first strum of her guitar. Stephanie is not a new artist around the block. She’s been creating music since the age of 9. In college, she performed at prominent locations around New York, including Bitter End, Don’t Tell Mama, the Village Gate, and the Speakeasy. She was recorded on Fast Folk, the Speakeasy’s album. In the early 1990s, she opened for Emmy Lou Harris in the Berkshires. Recently, she released her single “951 Days”, and plans to go full power on artist mode to create evergreen music and a global community of people bonded with their love for music. Career Highlights After moving from PA to NYC, she started performing at local festivals. However, life works in uncertain ways, and she had to take a hiatus from music after having 3 kids. “I returned to writing and performing. Released the 3rd album (available to the public) in Feb 2022, right before the country shut down due to the pandemic. I launched that album to a sold-out audience at the pre-eminent theater in West Chester known as Uptown. Most recently, I released my 4th album in December of 2022 and another single in February of this year.” - Stephanie Phillips In her latest single, “951 Days”, she has written an ode to people who’ve never backed down from struggles and have spent days & years apart from their families and loved ones. This is dedicated to Stephanie’s sister, who has shielded for more than 951 days to recover her health to optimal. The song weaves an emotional string with resonance to people's feelings for the cherished ones in their lives. Currently, this song is available on all streaming platforms. Stephanie has been working tirelessly to create more folk-pop songs that the audience will love and definitely add to their playlists! Walid Chaya has added one more gem to his unending streak of genius work with his new project, “The Barent Trap.” He co-wrote it with a friend, Jimmy Monack. It’s the reiteration of a short film by Walid, and Jimmy helped turn it into a full-length feature film. The script was recently selected as a semi-finalist for the Santa Barbara International Screenplay Awards' "Diversity Writers Outreach" program. We already know this movie will be the next Hollywood sensation, and Walid is excited to see people respond to this play on “Crazy Rich Asians” meets “The Parent Trap” movie. “Growing up, I was captivated by visual storytelling and the performing arts. That inspired me to create a fast-paced film celebrating family bonds and mixed identities, drawing on my childhood memories between Lebanon and America. As the film industry increasingly embraces diverse representation, I recognize a valuable opportunity to tap into an underserved Middle Eastern market and share my personal narrative.” - Walid Chaya The Barent Trap "The Barent Trap" by Walid Chaya is a groundbreaking comedy with a Middle Eastern twist that challenges stereotypes. The film's protagonists are twin brothers, Omar and Yousouf, who were born to parents forbidden from marrying due to cultural differences. Omar is a womanizing Christian lawyer, while Yousouf is a secretly gay Muslim music teacher. The film goes beyond typical misunderstandings and family conflicts to offer a unique perspective on the complexities of identity and family bonds. Through its Middle Eastern twist, the film explores the challenges of reconciling orthodox traditions with the demands of modern life, offering a poignant and humorous commentary on the tensions between tradition and progress. He believes that the industry's underrepresentation of Middle Eastern talent creates a void that his work can help fill. Recent studies by the MENA Arts Advocacy Coalition and UCLA's Hollywood Diversity Report have shed light on this issue, revealing that only 1% of TV actors are of MENA descent and there were no MENA actors cast as leading actors in films in the past year. To make a positive impact, Walid collaborates with diverse and talented individuals, including cinematographers, sound designers, and actors, bringing fresh and unique perspectives to his out-of-the-box scripts.
