Life gives us a fair share of no’s, obstacles, and other unforeseen setbacks while we strive hard for success. We realize only later that those moments are not losses, they are lessons. Lessons that strengthen us, lessons that make us wiser, and lessons that make us better prepared for our blessings. Those of us who don’t give up, will see a breakthrough.
Té Gold is one of the hottest songwriters and record producers in Los Angeles, originally from Philadelphia. She has collaborated with artists and producers like Eric Bellinger, PJ Morton, Om’Mas Keith, and many others. She has also written songs for shows on VH1 & FOX networks. Currently, she is writing for a show on HBO. She has also been published in SHOUTOUT LA. She aspires to be someone who shines a light on women working behind the scenes in the music industry. She says, “You don’t have to be an artist to be successful in music, there are so many other paths to take that are just as cool and rewarding.”
Musical Journey
Her musical journey started back in Philadelphia when she was 11. She would write, produce, and record her own songs on a Tascam 4 track recorder. She has always had a knack for writing and expressing herself through music. Later she interned at two major recording studios in Philadelphia where she learned the music business and the process of creating a commercial record. Concurrently she was also producing and managing local artists in Philly. A few years later she moved to L.A. to work on Top 40 records. “It has been a long journey of building relationships, lessons, and a lot of self-work and maturing, but every moment has been worth it because it prepares you for the longevity of a successful career.” Té says.
Inspirations
Her affinity and consistency to follow the path of music helped her walk a bumpy road. “Naturally, I like doing my own thing and setting the tempo in spaces where I am allowed the freedom to do so. I also enjoy helping others, so the goal was and still is to put myself in a position where I would be able to do that freely” she adds.
She loves the process of having a blank canvas and then taking ideas from her life experiences to create a relatable story. She is sometimes in awe of the idea that her songs have the potential to uplift, heal and inspire people. Being real and authentic in whatever work you do will make your contributions unique to the world. “Nobody can do what you do the way you do it.”
Aspirations
Amid COVID, most of the recording studios were closed and there wasn’t much in-person interaction between creatives. This resorted to them having writing sessions via Zoom which presented a less authentic dynamic. Luckily, things are now headed towards people getting back in the studio and creating a genuine energy and vibration. Té looks forward to her upcoming commercial releases with major artists. She also aspires to collaborate with new artists and maybe release a record of her own someday.
