Career As An R&B Producer
Summers journey as a music producer started about ten years ago. He recalls starting his career the traditional way, creating beats, and passing onto other R&B artists. However, Summers was not pleased with the way some artists were creating songs through his music. He wanted more control over the creative aspect of the project.
Summer was not a vocalist, and he could not see himself becoming one. So he started looking for artists who shared his visions and collaborated with them. Summer created his own niche and brand in the R&B scene by carefully choosing his collaborating artist. Artists like Calvin Harris and DJ Khalid inspired him to become more than just a producer. Summer says, “Lately I’ve been just trying to give people R&B music the way I see it and have been releasing songs lately that really speak who I am”.
Summer even created an R&B band called “The Warningz”, but it went south over time. He did not let it affect him and decided to pursue R&B as a solo artist. He was looking for a stage name, and he came up with Summers Ovver. It went perfectly with his vibe. Summer says, “I wanted something that sounded dope but edgy and cool, so I played around with a few names, and Summers Ovver is the one that stuck”
What Drives Him?
Summer loves the feeling of turning an idea into reality. Moreover, knowing the vibe and the sound of what he wants to create is just the cherry on the cake. Summer wants people to believe in the power of love. He creates songs around trust, hope, and embracing one’s feelings. He aims to inspire people to stay together, to work out their relationships, and to realize how much they care about each other through his music. Summer wants people to understand that it is ok and cool to say I love you.
Creating Music In The Pandemic.
The pandemic was a blessing in disguise for Summers as an independent artist. The world stopped and brought everyone online. He was able to create more content. His content was able to reach more people, which in turn helped him build a fanbase.
