Scottish college dome designed by Eden Project architect

Robertson Building will build the Futures Institute at Dollar Academy (FIDA) in central Scotland.

Designed by Eden Project architect Grimshaw, the domed tutorial middle in Dollar, come Stirling is made up our minds to construct the country’s first Living Building certification.

The mission seeks to decrease embodied carbon with minimal use of concrete in favour of glue-laminated bushes.

The constructing will seemingly be topped with a mild-weight, glulam geodesic dome clad with insulated ETFE pillows and solid insulated panes with photovoltaic panels.

With the majority of funding for the mission now in space via funding and donations, it is hoped construction will delivery up quickly.

Andrew Whalley, chairman of Grimshaw Architects, acknowledged: “The Futures Institute constructing is an exemplar of sustainable architecture.

“The rating facets bound past energy abilities and integrating quality of sunshine and natural air bound with the drag; this constructing considers biodiversity, and its space in the broader landscape.”
