According to reports, Oppo and OnePlus, two Chinese smartphone manufacturers, want to exit from most of the European markets, including the UK. Both companies, owned by BBK Electronics, haven’t been able to gain much traction in the region for some time as a result of a patent conflict with Nokia in Germany. However, the businesses refute the reports.

According to 36Kr, a Chinese publication, sources claim that Oppo is operating at a loss in Europe and that the company is getting ready to leave Germany and the UK. Although Oppo smartphones are popular, the return on investment is insufficient, and the company decided to stop selling them due to macroeconomic worries about inflation, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and a declining smartphone market.

Max Jambor, a prolific leaker, claims that OnePlus intends to leave Europe as well, beginning with Germany, the UK, France, and the Netherlands. For the time being, the company is said to remain in Spain, Switzerland, Italy, and a few other markets, though this could change in the future.

The reports have less probability of being incredulous, provided that OnePlus and Oppo have already lost a legal case over a patent controversy with Nokia in Germany. The verdict against OnePlus and Oppo will also legally forbid them from advertising their products in the country. However, it would hurt the competition and reduce consumer choice in the region.

In response to the reports, OnePlus issued a statement denying the claims and pledging to invest in Europe and provide innovative products and solutions for users. Oppo also dismissed the rumors and reaffirmed its commitment to current European markets.

There has been no news on other BBK Electronics companies, such as Vivo, which recently brought its latest flagship phone, the Vivo X90 Pro, to the market. A few months ago, Oppo introduced the Find N2 Flip in Europe, while OnePlus just recently made its OnePlus 11 flagship available there.
