I’m Not Mr. Know It All”: Hayson Tasher Senior’s Refreshing Approach to Leadership and Security

Success in the security industry is often associated with authority, leadership, and experience. But for Hayson Tasher Senior, one principle stands above everything else: never stop learning. Rather than presenting himself as someone who has all the answers, he embraces every opportunity to observe, adapt, and grow. His philosophy, “I’m Not Mr Know It All,” reflects the mindset that has shaped both his career and the development of the OLDPGS brand.

With years of hands-on experience in security operations, Hayson continues to believe that learning from people at every level is one of the strongest qualities a leader can possess. His approach focuses on respect, teamwork, and understanding before making decisions, proving that true leadership is built through experience rather than assumptions.

Building OLDPGS Through Experience and Self-Investment

The journey behind OLDPGS began with Hayson Tasher Senior investing in himself. By obtaining certifications and licenses, he positioned himself to turn the “Old Patrolman Brand” into a reality. He credits his own commitment to professional development as the foundation that allowed him to create opportunities for himself and his business.

His company provides a wide range of security services, including armed and unarmed uniformed security guards, SB1626 school security services, loss prevention and investigation services, free consultation, and additional security solutions. These services reflect his goal of providing dependable security while remaining committed to continuous improvement.

Hayson’s dedication has also been recognized through notable achievements. He was honoured as a 2022 and 2023 Security Business Hall of Fame Award recipient from the City of Pasadena. In addition, OLDPGS has been entrusted with several high-profile security assignments, including celebrity security details for rapper Lil Yachty’s prop detail and the security detail for the first original Superman costume prop.

Guided by the company slogans, “Security You Can Count On” and “Dedicated to a Safe and Secure Environment,” Hayson continues to focus on delivering reliable services backed by practical experience.

Leadership Through Learning, Not Control

One of Hayson’s strongest beliefs is that leadership should never be confused with control. He explains that when visiting a location where a security guard has already built strong relationships with the client and team members, he approaches the situation with the intention of learning rather than taking over.

His philosophy is simple: if something is working well, there is no need to change it unnecessarily. He has witnessed situations where supervisors disrupted successful operations by unnecessarily challenging guards who were already performing their jobs effectively. According to Hayson, these actions often damaged client relationships and, in one instance, resulted in a company losing the contract while the guard remained at the location under a new security provider.

This experience reinforced his belief that effective management requires listening, observing, and respecting the knowledge of those already doing the work. Even today, Hayson continues to perform field security duties alongside his management responsibilities and works closely with OLDPGS-affiliated companies and staff members. Staying active in the field allows him to understand the realities of security work while remaining connected to his team.

Creating Opportunities While Looking Ahead

When asked how he hopes to inspire others, Hayson’s answer is straightforward: opportunity. He believes that creating opportunities for growth is one of the greatest ways to make a positive impact.

His long-term vision for the “Old Patrolman Brand” includes retail locations offering tactical uniforms, security technology products, firearms, and additional equipment. He also envisions security training centers and an OLDPGS sister event-only security firm.

Hayson acknowledges that his journey has been shaped by learning from several different security companies before launching his own brand. Observing both the strengths and weaknesses of those organizations gave him valuable lessons that continue to influence his work today. He openly states that he has never claimed to know everything and believes professionals must continually adapt by keeping up with new laws, updated technology, and changes within the industry.

His guiding reminder captures that philosophy perfectly: “Remember the old brings in the new.” Through OLDPGS, practical experience, continuous learning, and a commitment to dependable service remain at the centre of everything Hayson Tasher Senior represents.
