Leah knew this is what she was born to do, she has always known that she would be a rockstar. And indeed she was right, for Leah has shared the stage with Nita Strauss (Alice Cooper), Johnny Depp (Hollywood Vampires), Joe Perry (Aerosmith), Everclear, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and many more.

Originally from Burleigh Heads, Australia- songwriter and vocalist for the band, Leah Martin-Brown, moved to Los Angeles in 2014 and formed heavy rock group- Evol Walks. The 5 piece rock-and-roll band, Evol Walks has toured through Australia, the USA, and parts of Europe, have played in front of 250,000 people at Polish Woodstock in Poland, and received airplay on internationally renowned radio stations. Their single ‘The Fire’ was premiered by AltPress when released in 2019. Writing and recording their new album in Stockholm, Sweden since October 2020, Leah is due to return to the USA in July 2021 and the band plans on releasing new music later in the Fall of 2021.

The Beginning Of Evol Walk

Evol Walks have a tenacity that cannot be argued with. Onstage the energy is electrifying and you can tell that each member is pouring their heart and soul into every note, living and breathing everything they do. Starting out in March 2014 at the Global Rock Summit, in front of the industry’s creme-de-la-creme, the band released their first EP ‘The Other Side’. In 2015 the group toured Australia twice as well as the West Coast USA, and parts of Europe which boasted a spot on the Main Stage at Polish Woodstock alongside Black Label Society, Within Temptation, and Flogging Molly. In October 2018- Evol Walks released the lead single of their following EP ‘Our Time is Now’, co-written with Jake Pitts from ‘Black Veil Brides.’ Their subsequent album was released in January 2019. September 2019 saw the 5 piece sign with Swedish Manager, Jens Lundberg of Blue Lemon Management. On May 27th, 2021- Leah decided to drop a cover of Alice in Chains’ ‘Man in the Box’ in collaboration with Evol Walks drummer Jimmy Lee, Swedish producer, and guitarist Chris Wetterstrom, Swedish guitarist Johan Lund, and LA-based bass player Alexandra Windsor.

Bringing The Dream To Life

Leah started playing music when she was a kid. In her late teens, she started a band in Australia called ‘Lilly Rouge’, which released music, played some big shows (Big Day Out 2013), and toured around a bit. At the end of 2013, she got a call from an A&R company that wanted her in Los Angeles by January 2014 for a showcase, so she got on a plane and left. “Once I got there- I realized that I needed something new- a fresh look and sound. And that is where Evol Walks was born. The sound was more real, rawer, and more grown-up from what I had been doing back in Australia,” recalls Martin-Brown.

Impact Of Covid-19 And Future Plans

It is no secret that COVID-19 devastated the live music and touring industry. “We were always regularly gigging- not just as a group but as individuals, and to have that yanked away was absolutely heartbreaking. Really had a moment of “This is over. My dream is over.”But her approach to the situation was rational, opting to take a deep breath, take some time off from planning shows, and focus instead on writing, and on becoming a better singer/performer and guitar player.

Talking about future plans, she gushes, “We have a new album’s worth of material that I have written and ready to go, once we are vaccinated and it is safe to do so we plan to get playing and touring.”

The promising rockstar aims to conquer the world with her sounds. She lives to perform on the stage and touch people through her songs. For her final remark, here’s The Plan B that she would like to share with the world – “Be humble. Never give up. Call your Mum.”
