They released three singles in 2021, and have recently supported the 90s legends, The Bluestones. They have headlined several sell-out shows across Greater Manchester in the last year and have an upcoming headline gig at Manchester Academy 3.
Currently, they’re working on a new EP and are set to release more singles in the coming months. The members of Maryland all have unique stories and links to the music industry.. Their shared love for music brings majestic ideas to life, and its effect on people is magical. This musical obsession goes back many years, and they’ve worked hard to build their sound and stand out in the local music scene. A Journey That Goes Back In Time
James and his wife Bex met when they were 16 years old, they even share the same birthday. They met in the Maryland building at Xaverian college in Manchester, and the band’s name comes from that encounter. Both Bex and James studied theater and English together as teenagers. Their love for music comes from these years, and they’ve also attended and taken part in many plays together with a passion for everything musical. The pair attended Oasis’s 1996 legendary main road gig together which kickstarted their shared passion. James has played in bands since he was 16 and ran a musical theater company with Bex to inspire kids to take up performance as well.
Maryland was created as a haven for its members and fans. They release music with the motive to leave people smiling and feeling good. Just for a few minutes, they want to pull people out of their hectic lives and get lost in the kaleidoscopic dreams of Maryland.
