Al Fresco Workout Is The New Fitness Trend Post Covid.
All parts of our lives have had a 180-degree change over the past two years due to the ongoing global pandemic. How we eat, work out, and rest – all the methods are changed. This change is reflected in the wellness trends that we are seeing. People have become more conscious about their health.
This consciousness has led to experimenting and the rise of a new exercise trend – the Al Fresco workout. Al Fresco dining parties were the buzz of the town till now, but Al Fresco exercises are gaining more popularity among people.
All About Al Fresco Workout
Al Fresco workouts are the workouts done in open fields or terraces, in the presence of fresh flowing air. Necessity may have sent Americans in search of sweat sessions outdoors, but thanks to major investment and expansion by some of the fitness industry’s biggest players, this movement has legs that will carry it beyond COVID-19. Since mid-2020 fitness studios and gyms have moved outdoors. Many big players like Barry’s, 305 Fitness, Fhitting Room, SoulCycle, and SLT have participated in this trend very actively and have opened many outdoor studios. Kristin Sudeikis, the founder of the New York City-based studio Forward space, for one, says she plans to continue the brand’s al fresco dance parties “forever.”
Many brands are making significant investments by setting up open spaces for workouts. Two examples of this are: Equinox opened full-service outdoor locations in New York and Los Angeles called Equinox+ In the Wild, and Gold’s Gym has opened a 400-square-foot covered terrace for classes and training sessions in Washington, DC, in early 2021.
SLT founder Amanda Freema says, “I expect to see outdoor workouts continue once the pandemic has ended thanks to the unique experience an outdoor class offers as well as the fact that they’re a cost-effective way for studios to offer their workout in more places,”
Life Transforming Benefits Of Al Fresco Workout
These outdoor workouts are gaining momentum because they are loaded with life-transforming health benefits.
Exercising in fresh air can:
- Work as a natural antidepressant.
- Make you more consistent because you will love the sun, birds, trees and the overall vibes.
- Build your social circle.
- Strengthen your body as it’s more challenging to work outdoors.
Other than this there are several other benefits of the Alfresco workout. The studios are seeing a spike in the results after they moved outside. This trend can be seen as the positive impact of the pandemic, which will last forever.
