Hold Your Hearts Because The MTV Moon Man Is Back.
MTV’s video music awards for 2021 is around the corner. In light of the events, MTV has released the list of nominations of the worthy performers, on August 11. In June 2021, they announced that the awards had to be restructured in an online mode and are now returning to the single, live venue after the 2020 pandemic.
“Thanks to increased safety measures, the 2021 show is looking to center live entertainment once again, just as concerts return throughout the rest of the United States,” MTV informed.
In addition to this, while talking about the safety concerns, MTV said, they are working in coordination with the Barclays (where the ceremony is to be hosted), the state and the local authorities. They further added, “To implement best practices and execute a screen-breaking spectacle that brings together music fans from around the globe with the health and safety of our artists, fans, staff and partners will remain the No. 1 priority.”
About The 2021 Nominations
The eligibility period for this year’s nominations is set from July 2020 to July 2021. So, hold your horses, because your favorite music could probably have a chance of getting nominated here.
An official list of the MTV awards nominations was released on August 11th, which stated that Justin Bieber and Megan Thee Stallion are leading the nominations with seven and six nominations respectively. They are followed by several five-times-nominated artists, including Lil Nas X, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Ellish, Doja Cat, Drake, Giveon, and BTS.
MTV awards for this year are falling on September 11, just after the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Therefore, the organizers are planning to join the 9/11 Day organization to “promote awareness and action” for the National Day of Service and Remembrance.
Other than this, to provide some room for the surprise to the audiences, MTV has preferred to maintain silence on everything, right from the host of the show to the performers of the show. But we can fairly assume that the one with the most nominations may get a chance to perform on stage. And Lil Nas X, Megan Thee Stallion, and Cardi B are few of the stars who are most likely to put on a jaw-dropping show at this year’s VMAs.
There’s one more good news for the MTV fans. They can vote for their favorite artist and help them win. The voting lines are open and you can check it out here.
