Stephen “tWitch” Boss, a charismatic hip-hop dancer and television personality, known for his appearances on “So You Think You Can Dance” and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” Mr. Boss passed away at the age of 40.
Born in Montgomery, Alabama, Mr. Boss began his dance career at a young age. He started as a breakdancer before eventually branching into other styles, including hip-hop, jazz and contemporary. His talent and charisma soon caught the attention of the producers of “So You Think You Can Dance”. In 2008, Mr. Boss joined the show’s fourth season as a contestant.
With his energetic and emotional performances, Mr. Boss quickly became a fan favorite, impressing judges and audiences alike. He finished the season as the runner-up, and his popularity grew. In 2010, he joined the cast of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” as a resident DJ and performer.

Mr. Boss’ time on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” brought him even more recognition and opportunities. He danced alongside some of the biggest names in music, including Justin Bieber and Pharrell Williams, and he also worked as a choreographer and director on various projects.
Ellen DeGeneres was one of the first to pay tribute to her dear friend. She shared a throwback picture of them backstage and wrote, “I am devastated by the news of Stephen’s passing. He was a pure soul with a huge heart and will be missed dearly. My thoughts and love go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.”
Mr. Boss’ talent and charm extended beyond the world of dance. He and his wife, fellow dancer Allison Holker, welcomed their first child, a son named Maddox, in 2016. He also hosted several game shows and appeared in several films and television shows.
In a statement, Mrs. Holker Boss said: “Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else, and leading with love and light was everything to him.”

Mr. Boss is also survived by his parents, a stepdaughter, Weslie, a brother, Deondre Rose, a grandfather, Eddy Boss, and two grandmothers, Elnora Rose and Marie Boss.
The charismatic man’s untimely passing has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, and tributes have been pouring in from fans and fellow dancers alike. The Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office has ruled Mr. Boss’ death a suicide.
