This is the case of Turkish superstar AlicanAkman, who after hitting the ceiling in Izmir, his hometown, immigrated to Los Angeles to achieve bigger dreams.
In Turkey, Alican worked with the biggest names and starred in the popular television series “Leyla ileMecnun”, the first Turkish show to chart into IMDB’s top 50 best series. After hitting the audience with an excellent performance of his character, Alican caught the eye of OnurUnlu, the most prestigious film director in the Middle east, 2014. While working with Onur, Alican’s career blew up and he started landing major roles in award winning movies such as Sen AydinlatirsinGeceyi and Itirazim Var. As his fame grew, so did his ambition and in 2016 theTurkish superstar arrived in Los Angeles to continue developing his passion for theater and acting.
In his free time, Alican would focus on perfecting his craft, either by taking acting lessons, rehearsing, or working out to stay fit in order to get the best roles. True to his roots, Alican is now preparing to star in a Turkish American romantic comedy co-production for Netflix. Akman firmly believes his secret to a successful acting career was to never give up and to always be ready. Netflix is now opening up shows focused on casting cultural diversity, and it is a great time for actors from all over the world to remain loyal to their traditions and perform while maintaining their backgrounds.
